Brockenhurst
Parts of the building date back to 1650 and still feature beautiful period features, such as original wooden beams, handmade bricks and ship timbers. The lodge’s rich history means it has a wealth of character and original charm. Cottage Lodge was very comfortable and had excellent facilities. The breakfasts were excellent and the selections of breakfast meals were all enjoyable. The hotel was perfect for us as we could walk to the bike rental near the train station to pick up our bikes. As we did two days of biking, it worked out well. Having a designated car parking spot was nice as we always had a spot to park. From the hotel you can walk to the restaurants and pubs, no need to drive.

So much to like about this hotel but the dog guy welcome pack which included a healthy treat blanket to go on the bed or floor and towel was a lively surprise (you don’t get to keep the blanket and towel). He was welcome I. All areas except tge restaurant but they made it so easy by just setting our meals up in the bar instead. The garden was huge for the kids to run around in and the access gate straight out of th back of the garden into the New Forrest made walking the dog super easy and the children were super excited to get to see the horses and pat some of them that came over to us.
Food was delicious for both dinner and breakfast and it was nice to see a couple of different things on a kids menu so ham, eggs and chip stand a cheese omelette were a welcome break.
The rooms we had worked perfectly for us as a family we had 2 rooms at the end of the corridor behind a fire door so if we so wanted we could leave the room doors open and the children (& dog could move between the rooms. They were light and airy with lovely big windows. If you like or need to sleep in you definitely need to pull the shutters across as well as close the curtain to keep it dark enough to sleep.
We had trouble deciding what to do as there is so much not only in the surrounding area but also in very close proximity. Long Down Activity farm is just around the corner Beaulieu is about 10 mins drive and Paultons Park and Peppa pig world aren’t much further than that either. The hotel has a brochure rack if you are looking for other things to do and the staff were helpful helping to recommend places to eat nearby.
As we drove away my husband said that was nice for a 3 star and I thought he was joking. It was way better than many 4 star hotels I’ve stayed and and even some 5 stars. But I would say that most or the reason for not having a higher star rating is from not having those extra facilities like spa, swimming pool, gym etc.

I had a lovely stay at the Cottage Lodge hotel. I had a warm welcome when I arrived, with a designated parking space and coffee and cake during check in. The room was lovely and spacious and the facilities were clean. I enjoyed sitting out in the garden area and found the hotel extremely peaceful. Breakfast was great and good quality, with lots of options. In addition the hotel was easy to find and situated in a good location. I would definitely visit again!
Lovely boutique hotel facilities but with the feel of a relaxed, family home.
A stunning location , we were upgraded to a room with a view of the river which was a lovely surprise . We had a stroll before a tasty dinner in the pub . everything was so nice about the hotel and designed for guests comfort . We didn’t have time to walk along the river but we did spend an hour in the Museum at Buclers Hard which was really interesting .; guests get a discount ,also the small chapel .
We had a fabulous stay at this hotel, the bed was superb and the room was lovely, filled character. It was a nice touch to have milk in the fridge for the coffee. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the hotel was exceptional in service and staff and food and we loved the design of old and new. Thank you.
Lovely location, rooms are designed beautifully, great bar
The property was well designed and finished to a very high standard. The attention to detail was really good. The whole experience was great. One area we thought was outstanding was the outside space, a super large gas fuelled BBQ, a fire pit with logs etc provided, a four seater dining set and two lovely relaxers with small table allowed us to enjoy uninterrupted views of the forest and meadows surrounding us.
Beautiful place to stay both in terms of the setting and the interior design. Staff were amazing. Had a lovely relaxing weekend and will definitely be coming back
