This is the finest place we’ve stayed on the West Coast - without a doubt!! Spectacular beach front location with dramatic seascapes fronting the property. Not to be overlooked are the fabulous succulents and cacti adorning the property, both in planters and growing in the the foreground of the property fronting the beach. Take the walk with your glass of fine South African wine out to the two weathered wooden chairs poised on the lip of the dune bluff above the poounding surf of the beach itself, then tell me you have not 'arrived' - I dare you! Yzerfontein is an elegant community with a SPAR supermarket that rivals Whole Foods back home in California, and many fine restaurants and shops as well. World-traveling hosts Hennie and Delia are gracious, helpful and well-informed about the area's attractions. Highly recommended!!

Incredible wraparound sea views and an amazing setting! This is a beautiful and really comfortable home with luxurious extras and detail which make for a very indulgent stay. The place has changed dramatically over the years and not necessarily in a good way. The new houses are all massive and it is very overpopulated. The beach was a big disappointment due to the severe mass of debris, like plastic etc. that washed up from the ocean.

Great to visit Yzerfontein.

Great to visit Yzerfontein. Had a good morning on the beach, walking about the town and going to the harbour. Enjoyed swimming in the icy ocean. Could have had an extra day to visit some of the restaurants and stores. We stayed a few kms out of town, but next time will look to stay on the beachfront or nearby.

had the best time at De Vuurtoren. The place looked even better in person than in the photos. The decor was beautiful, calm, and inviting, and you can tell how much love went into setting up every detail. Everything was spotless and well maintained, which made the stay feel easy and comfortable. The owner was lovely. She was kind, warm, and went out of her way to make me feel welcome. You don’t often meet people who care that much about their guests, and her energy made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the location was perfect for a quiet getaway. Mornings were filled with light and fresh air, and the evenings felt calm and homely. The bed was comfortable, the space was relaxing, and everything worked perfectly. I didn’t want to leave when it was time to check out. It’s one of those places that stays with you long after you’ve left. I’d recommend De Vuurtoren to anyone visiting Yzerfontein, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to.

Great views of beaches and sea.

Great views of beaches and sea. Great location for seeing several really beautiful sites with abundance of colourful nature. Hardly anyone else at each great site we visited. NB be prepared to park off road and walk. Weather was great for walks.

The absolute best location in Yzerfontein! Right on the beach, and super comfortable bed. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there is even a great coffee machine for the best coffee ever! The views are to-die-for. The host, Francois, was very helpful in advising us on places to eat / visit. We will certainly be back again soon. Superb location. it is as like being transported to a small fishing village. Everything was neat and clean but rustic. Very comfortable beds, lovely hot shower and the soothing sound of the ocean. The Sunday lunch was fabulous. Gareth James played music and sang with just added to the relaxed atmosphere. a must if you travelling through Yzerfontein.
