Mossel Bay itself has so much to see and do and then you have all the little treasures on the outskirts of Mossel Bay. One that we found this weekend after visiting Mossel Bay for the last 15 years is the Butterfly Sanctuary on the R328 in Ruitersbos. Visit in summer to see the butterflies as in winter their numbers are far less. Great stop if driving along the Garden Route.
Great stop if driving along the Garden Route. Since we drove from Cape Town, it was a great resting spot. We managed to do all of the activities we had planned in one day; St. Blaize Trail, St. Blaize Cave, St. Blaize Lighthouse, Santos Beach, Explore Old Town, Dias Museum. Unfortunately it was only a 1 night stay on our way back home, so there was not enough time to enjoy the scenery. We enjoyed supper at La Peron Visskerm, which was excellent. Staff were friendly and cheerful. And the breakfast was fantastic. We had a very good meal in the Gannet Restaurant one evening. It was a short walk to the Old Harbour and beach. And it was a two minute walk to the really interesting Mossel Bay museum where we spent an enjoyable few hours. We had parking immediately outside the hotel entrance.
