Home of the Foodie Airport
SeaTac is a small city which surrounds the airport of the same name, better known as Seattle-Tacoma Airport. It is the busiest passenger hub in the state of Washington and has the unusual distinction of having a reputation for serving good food. Its 3 parallel runways are flanked to the north and south by 2 of the city’s green parks and others are on the shores of Puget Sound, separating the city from Vashon Island.
Unsurprisingly, aviation is one of SeaTac’s biggest industries and several international airlines have their headquarters here. Much of the accommodation is also centred around the terminal buildings. Many of the hotels and cheap motels on Booking.com offer swimming pools and free airport shuttles, making that early morning departure or late night arrival so much easier.
A train links the airport directly to Seattle city centre, as does the interstate which also goes past neighbouring Tacoma. SeaTac City Hall is just off the interstate, a few streets from large Angle Lake whose calm waters are a popular spot for fishing.
To the north-west in Tukwila, the Westfield Southcenter mall is the largest shopping centre in the state and has a whole host of restaurants as well as big name brands.

The ladies at the front desk were awesome.
The ladies at the front desk were awesome. I wrote their names on my boarding pass, so I cannot give them their accolades by name. They went out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable. Housekeeping was a little shy, but very accommodating. They kept the hotel spotless. The grounds were free of trash and inviting. This airport was awful.
This airport was awful. My daughter had broken her foot on vacation so was in a wheelchair - we had to go up and down 4 elevators as well as had to wait two trams to get to the hotel shuttle.
