We take a day trip to Newport about twice a year, and wanted to stay a few days this time. Very happy we did. It was very busy, but due to size it's still manageable. Parking is a bit of a problem, but we downloaded the Passport app which made it easy once we found a spot. Our favorite activity is the Ocean Drive out to Brenton Point. Parking is easy there and you can sit out on the cliffs and enjoy the surf. Bring chairs as benches have been removed (boo hoo).Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

Newport is great If you are into nautical and historical locations. Reminds me of Annapolis. The streets are very tiny in the center of town much like Old England. They are working on the Cliff Walk so time didn't allow me to find parking and walk to the part that is open. I went for a John Lodge concert at the Jane Pickens which is a nice little theater. Getting around is easy on foot, less so with a car because of the narrowness of the streets and insufficient parking. It took me a while to get there by train but it’s completely worth it for the summer. There’s always a lot of outdoor things to see, whether it’s walking to harbor, going to the beach and cliff walk or touring some of the islands or simply taking a boat ride. There’s tons of events tennis, polo, dance festival, classical music festival and of course folk and jazz fest. Then there’s all the shops! There’s great stuff to find besides the normal touristy stuff but where Newport shines is their antique stores and small galleries. I always find something beautiful there and it makes the trip very special. Plus all the gallery owners and shop workers I’ve met have been great conversationalists and clue you in on other things going on. What puts Newport over the top of course is the great weather during the summer and a safe, fun atmosphere.Guest review byKaitlin
