We tend to favor places with natural beauty - and we found it at the Bolsa Chica Ecological Preserve, just up the road from HB. The hotel was conveniently located- we could walk to the beach or to nearby restaurants. Parking under the hotel was a nice perk. Busy highway out front. They were doing some repaving (@4am!), which was terrible- the whole hotel shook. Not the hotel’s fault though. Great coffee in the lobby. Meh breakfast (pancakes and pre-packaged stuff). The weather was wet and chilly when we were there, so that wasn’t great, but if it had been good weather and we had had more time, it would have been great. Henrys restaurant service and food was great. A nice experience. Room was corner balcony facing the ocean and overlooking the pool. Great. Very nice environment. Two pools. One for families and one quiet. Staff very accomidating and pleasant and professional. Beach across stet. easy to get to. A few blocks away was downton with a very "Surf city" feel. Compared to the rest of Southern California, it was pleasant. I noticed the cleanliness, no graffiti, and the traffic flowed well. There was adequate choices of shopping and restaurants.
