We also enjoyed the Tainan Art Museum (the newer Building 2) exhibitions of contemporary artists' work. There's an excellent restaurant on level 5. Walking the streets is a great way to discover the architectural variety of the city, from Japanese colonial era to contemporary landmarks to traditional temples. The city is excellent and offers a great deal of places to visit, like Hayashi Store for some amazing souvenirs, Confucius Temple to appreciate the ancient learning and culture, a lot of Museums to showcase the art and history of the city, and the fantastic night markets for local cuisine of Tainan. I would not recommend visiting on a Monday as most of the shops, cafes and bars were shut during the day time and also in the evening it was quite difficult to find somewhere to eat.
