Sebes is a pleasing blend of old and new.
Sebes is a pleasing blend of old and new. The wood industry is the main employer and it is not without controversyy. There is a busy Green Party office in the centre. On the positive side there is full employment which accentuates the underlying friendliness of a place I had visited before when times were not so easy. On my first day I accidentally dropped a small piece of paper from my pocket while walking along the main street. This was spotted by a driver in slow-moving traffic who called out: 'sir you dropped something!' The centre has some nice public buldings and churches and there is a very good restaurant called 'Crema Turm' where I ate twice and which is easy to spot.Guest review byThomasUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Nice town..lots of interesting things everywhere but you...
Nice town..lots of interesting things everywhere but you need to spend time looking. Check out Mr Binders House and the birthplace of a guy named Carl Filtsch..he was a child prodigy of Chopin but died when he was only 14. Around the corner is a list of local citizens sent off to the Romanian and Russian gulags..never to return. Location perfect if you are going from the train as we were. The highlight was the staff they were so incredibly nice and helpful.
