The lake front is amazing. It’s close to “downtown” with restaurants and really nice cafe. Rental of boats which was great, even in the rain. Staff super friendly. Quiet place even when full. Cabin was clean and well laid out. Everyone on one bedroom and nice living room/kitchen and deck.

The village house is utterly charming. After being there one day, I told my folks that I’d decided to stay forever and the Norwegian authorities would have to drag me out kicking and screaming. The heat works great and there was plenty of hot water. The views from the house are fantastic. There’s a church next door that was built in 18-something but there’s been a church there since 1330 and don’t forget to check out the 1,000 year-old cross by the church’s front door. The host was very kind and responsive. The price is quite attractive compared to the two hotels downtown and in my opinion you get so much more for your money with the village house. Finally, I measured the walk from the Joker grocery downtown to the front step of the house and it’s exactly 1/2 mile, or a 10-minute slow (and very pretty) walk.
