I was supposed to stay in an Airbnb nearby but the key wasn’t in the key box so I booked this place very last minute at 21:30 at night and they had this room available and it was just perfect . Staff were nice, breakfast was excellent. Simple but good. Room and beds were very comfortable. It was also slightly lower priced than a hotel my aunt was staying in around the corner and where she had a terrible experience as well. Would definitely stay again.

FAQs about hotels in Bergen

Picture-Postcard Norway

Gateway to the western fjords, Bergen is a picture-perfect postcard of Norway at its best. Colourful, wooden houses in UNESCO World Heritage-listed Bryggen contrast wonderfully with the lush greenery of the surrounding Seven Mountains.

For fantastic views of Norway’s 2nd largest city, hop on the cable car to Ulriken Mountain. Alternatively, hike or take the funicular railway up to Fløyen Mountain. With beaches sheltered from the North Sea by islands, Bergen is Norway’s busiest port and a popular starting point for fjord cruises and deep sea fishing.

The fish market in the narrow streets of the historic centre is a popular attraction, while just north is 12th-century St Mary’s Church. Around 100 years younger is Bergenhus, one of Norway’s best-preserved forts. Further north is Gamle Bergen, a reconstructed wooden village offering insight into the past.

Cobbled Strandgaten street and Lagunen Storsenter shopping centre are just some shopping options, but items aren’t cheap. As you wander around the city look for work by Dolk, Norway’s best-known street artist. Other cultural offerings are the many museums and a good music scene ranging from classic to indie.

Booking.com’s range of Bergen accommodation extends out towards Bergen Airport in Flesland, the departure point for many workers on the offshore oil and gas rigs.

    Bergen is absolutely beautiful.

Bergen is absolutely beautiful. It is certainly worth noting that it is the rainiest city in Europe! But we did get lucky on our trip with a lovely sunny day. We stayed in central Bergen for 5 nights (6-11 October), which was a perfect length of time for us. Our apartment was on Grønnegaten, close to the Lille Lungegårdsvannet. We explored the city with its beautiful architecture. Restaurants/cafes are fairly expensive (coming from Cambridge/London, UK), but we stayed somewhere with a kitchen so ate in in the evenings. We walked up Fløyen (1 hour to the top from our apartment, very accessible road route) and got the funicular down (75 NOK one way). We also walked up Ulriken --- Google Maps took us a bit of a weird route (from our apartment to the Skyskraperen restaurant at the top of Ulriken, the walk went via Kolstien bus stop) that felt like we were going through someone's back garden (we weren't), but it took us about 2.5 hours total to walk from our apartment to the top. A more challenging walk with lots of water and a bit of scrambling. Definitely wouldn't have wanted to do it in the rain --- we got lucky with a dry sunny day. We got the cable car down (240 NOK one way). We also got the train from Bergen to Voss (536 NOK return) and the Voss gondola up the mountain (360 NOK return). I'd recommend all of these activities! It was also great that all the tickets could be purchased online and contactless/Apple Pay was widely accepted. Everyone we interacted with also spoke amazing English and was very friendly.

Bergen was an amazing place with beautiful nature, warm people, great atmosphere, and plenty of attractions—I would definitely come back. We took a boat trip too Flam one way and Flam train on the way back. It was an amazing experience. Unfortunatley we could not visit to many museums as they were closed on Monday.

What a beautiful and incredibly interesting city!

What a beautiful and incredibly interesting city! Bergen has so much to offer with lots of amazing museums that we just didn't have time to visit or explore. There are also many restaurants that we would have liked to try and a trip during the day up the Floibanen would also have been nice. What a great excuse for a return visit to this lovely city!

Historic harbor area is terrific. The old buildings and shopping alleys were good fun. The funicular up to the viewpoint above town is wonderful. I wish I had stayed another day to explore further and get out of town to see more sights.

Well, you have to know that it rains almost daily in Bergen. If you are up to that Bergen is an interesting city. 2 full days however is enough to see it; The main centre at the harbour is very touristic, unfortunately mainly due to many huge cruise-ships coming daily to the port and unleashing thousands of tourists. Around the harbour vicinity there are hardly any locals living. A bit off the centre there are many traditional houses.

A very comfortable hotel in a great location. The rooms are clean, modern and well equipped. Every member of staff I spoke to was helpful, smiley and very friendly. At the end of my 10-day stint travelling around Norway I’d come accustomed to starting the day with an excellent breakfast, and WOW! I was not disappointed the first morning I came down. At first you don’t know where to start. Thankfully I stayed 3-nights so I tried everything by the time I left. I’d stay here again for the breakfast alone….

Silent room with excellent black out curtains. Snuggly comfortable bed. Great breakfast buffet (once won the timings best breakfast in Norway), with smoothies and something for every nationality. Looked like excellent options for vegans, gluten free etc at the back. Lovely location by kode museum, a nice lake and a nice stroll the bryggen and the fish market. Beautiful entrance and lobby with spaces to sit We would absolutely stay here again if we came back to Bergen.

The perfect location in Bergen. Even though our room didn't overlook the water, it was a very spacious room. We loved the funky decor and layout. All staff were friendly and welcoming. It had a fantastic bar and large dining room where we enjoyed complimentary breakfasts. Norway is expensive for Australians so this was relatively good value considering its facilities and very central position, only a minute's walk from the colourful Bryggen wharf and fish market.

Cheap as for Bergen but still rather pricey, like the whole Norway. My room was very small, half filled by the bed, with absolutely minimal furniture. But the outside kitchen was well equipped. WiFi working well. Bergen accessible by bus, but outside peak hours running once per hour, may require long wait especially when returning later during the day. Bus needs to be changed into tram at "Nestun terminal", no direct connection.

The perfect location to explore Bergen. Literally around the corner to the fascinating historic buildings of Bryggen. A modern hotel with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely big bathroom, and the room had all the amenities you often don't find in Norway - fridge, kettle, iron, etc.
