Rotterdam is a fabulous city (with its own airport) with everything and more. Amazing if you like architecture with a great mix of buildings, art and architecture museums and galleries. Lots of great walks by water. Great murals and unusual street art. Good shopping areas outside of the main generic shopping centres. Food is a mix of everything and not always easy to find decent restaurants so do research on that. Lots of delicious bakeries and good breakfast cafes. It’s so easy to go to close by surrounding towns by train like Delft, Schiedam, Leiden, Haarlem and even Amsterdam and The Hague aren’t too far. Or boat. So many pretty towns with canals and windmills and even a UNESCO area with 19 windmills just 30 minutes away. The people are very friendly and helpful. Feels very safe walking about even at night. Rotterdam is a beautiful city. We only stopped through for one day and night travelling from Paris to Amsterdam. We spent the day at Efteling theme park which we considered better than Disneyland Paris! Rotterdam city is clean and beautiful. The nightlife was pumping with many bars and restaurants. The city is great.
The city is great. I liked the architecture, the transport system is very convenient and easy to navigate and there is quite lot to see once you are there. We were visiting primarily because of North Sea Jazz Festival - which was great experience. Definitely take a walking tour with guide - it was fun and informative. July seems as a great time to visit city - don't know if we were lucky or what but the weather was just right.
