This Gozo village/town is easily reached by bus from the ferry or from Victoria. Unlike other parts of Gozo and Malta, it does not suffer from over-tourism or large, high-rise developments. The central square is dominated by the large church at one end. There are about a dozen restaurants in this central area. We lived the wide choice of eating places and "watering holes". This is no party venue for the young, but a more sedate venue for the descerning visitor. It can get quite busy in the evenings as there is a road and bus route through the piazza. We did a number of walks from the village and also visited the old windmill, the toy museum, the Neolithic park and Mixta cave overlooking Ramla beach. On one day of our week-long stay we walked a 7 mile section of the coastal path from Ramla to the Masalforn salt pans. This could challenge hikers who are not fit due to the steepness of the path - inadvisable in wet weather as the path has muddy sections. Like most places in Malta and Gozo, there is a lot of discarded rubbish and lots of dog shit. Apparently many dog owners cannot read or will not comply with the frequent signs warning of the consequences of failing to clear up the dog's mess. Pavements - the proprietors each property with a street frontage appear to be responsible for the installation and maintenance of the pavement (broadwalk). There is zero uniformity in height, width, finish, condition or angle. Consequently it is near-impossible to use the pavements and pedestrians are obliged to walk on the roads. Certainly not ideal for buggies or people with mobility issues. The place grew on us as the week - we have no immediate or pressing plans or desires to return.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom - 10

Xaghra is a lovely unspoilt town with very good restaurants and friendly people. However there is construction everywhere and everything is covered in dust. I hope the infrastructure can keep up with the buildings - the roads are terrible, uneven and the traffic struggles to get past the parked vehicles. The church dominates the square and is ornate and beautiful. The Latini restaurant and the Oleander have excellent food at reasonable prices and friendly staff. I was there on victory day which coincides with Festa Marija Bambina in Xaghra. The good is that the town is in a party and festivity frenzy. Xaghra is a hilltop Town, and in the Piazza, you will find good restaurants. Apart from this, you will find the Ggantija Temples, Xerri's Grotto and Ninu's Cave and Calipso Cave. The Basilica of Xaghra is very beautiful. There are so many Belvederes all around Xaghra. Malsalforn is just 5 minutes away from Victoria, the Capital City of Gozo, the same just 5 minutes away. We stayed in Room 11 which had a lovely sea view, a private terrace, and was conveniently on the same floor as the pool. The room was comfortable and breakfast was very generous – you complete a form the night before and portions are more than enough to share, with lots of choice.
