Stunning Blend of Old and New

Situated on the Gulf of Riga, at the mouth of the River Daugava, Riga is a major cultural city with stunning architecture, large parks and fascinating traditions.

The Old Town in Riga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, popular for its Art Nouveau and 19th-century wooden architecture. St. Peter’s Church is one of the oldest medieval Gothic churches in the Baltic states, offering breathtaking views over the city.

Enjoy a romantic walk in the historic cobbled streets and head to the colourful Central Market where you can taste local specialities. Most of the local cuisine consists of pork, potatoes and sausage, while beer is the most popular alcoholic beverage.

Each year the capital of Latvia hosts a variety of international exhibitions and scientific conferences, and Riga’s Creative Quarters house art and fashion shops that give you an insight into the spirit of local life.

Old Riga is amazing, there is such to see and do and so much history, visit the war museum as it free and I highly recommend it. There is more to do in the summer as now the boat cruises have stopped, which was a nice way to see the surrounding area. If you have time you can also explore Riga city center or cross over one of the bridges, it has less tourists, and has shops, restaurants, mini golf, we did bowling one night and plan on going go-carting in the near future. Lots of local beer to sample, and it seems most bars/pubs have there own beer brand that you can try also.

Beautiful city with one of the best old towns in Europe.

Beautiful city with one of the best old towns in Europe. Great for walking around, grabbing a coffee and chilling. It's a nice spot to take it easy. I went for dancing and for football and thoroughly enjoyed it there. Getting around is so simple, buses and lime scooters.

Riga is a beautiful and ancient city that is quite neglected by tourists. There is certainly a lot to see and the Latvians are a warm and friendly people. The excellent food will certainly only enhance the experience.

Great old town - vibrant with shops restaurants, UNESCO rated heritage preserved. We took tram to new library across the river which is an impressive building, also with an exhibit on design by Latvian- American architect. We took tram to Art Nouveau museum and self guided walking tour of the buildings in that area as well as embassy row. Largest amount of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. Day trip by train to Kemeri and Jurmal was worthwhile!

We visited Riga as Eurobasket 2025 final phase was taking place, hence we may have experienced it through lenses slightly different from what would be the norm. As a basketball fan, my favourite place was the Xiaomi Arena and some of the bars with plenty of TVs in Riga's old town. As a tourist, I really enjoyed exploring Riga's Central Market with a tour guide and trying many different traditional foods. Our bike tour was fun and extremely informative. I absolutely loved the Museum of Occupation of Latvia, where I got to know so much history! We ate at many different restaurant and cafes in Riga's old town as well as beyond it. One place that we would most definitely recommend to those who, like us, have a bit of a sweet tooth, would be 'Cruffins', who make the best cruffins we have ever had as as 'Crumble Cake' for some amazing homemade crumble cakes. We found Riga extremely easy to get around and the public transport system well-developed. Riga is very close to Jurmala, about half an hour long train ride, and Jurmala is a lovely coastal town to visit, especially when you get lucky with the weather like we did!

The location of Hotel is excellent, 3 minute walk from Airport bus. The staff were superb, very friendly and helpful during my whole stay. Room very clean and tidy with bed comfortable , air conditioning which kept it cool, so room not to hot and bathroom and bedroom big size for single person. Breakfast is good choice and tasty. Hotel very close, around 5 - 8minute walk to the old Town of Riga. The area around Hotel is quiet at night. Also very close walk to Train station.

Great value!!! Hotel has a very peaceful feel to it, neighborhood is great and quiet, with lots of wondeful and delicious cafes within walking distance, also a large park is nearby. Room was very clean, staff was very friendly and warm!!! Location is amazing, very accessible to all places in the city, close to old town, city center and close airport (few minutes walk to stop for bus 22 that goes direct to airport). I would recommend staying here.

We had an enjoyable stay at Old Riga Plaza hotel! The location was excellent, very close to Old Town Riga and just next to a nice traditional bar and restaurant with Latvian folk music and dance! We stayed in a junior suite, which was bright and spacious with a great functioning AC, Smart TV, etc. Friendly reception and smooth automatic check-in system for after 7 pm check-in/out - all quite reasonably priced!

Clean room, great beds. Hotel is well situated nearby the main railway, the bus station and the airport bus terminal. The staff were very friendly. We had to check out early to catch a morning flight from Riga airport, the staff ensured we had a picnic-box breakfast to take with us. Hotel is a short walk from the art-deco area and the Old Town.

Normally it is good price for very clean room, in well equipped hotel (kitchen, washing machines) for staying at Riga. Big free parking in the back of the hotel, and free places on the street. Very close to tram stop - with direct route to city center / old town. Located close to small grocery stores (100 m) and larger chain stores (500 m)
