Loved the location. The service was impeccable. And the food was sublime and delicious. The hotel was a mix of old and new. Fabulous art and furniture. The staff couldn't do enough and suggested that as the firework festival was taking place that evening..we could have dinner earlier and taxi service would be arranged. We especially loved our private onsen overlooking the bay. Can't wait to return. Only an hour from Tokyo!!

It was too expensive for one night and there were 3 people in the room. The best thing would have been 2 rooms. But booking couldn't understand me the many times I tried to explain this to them before visiting the hotel. But I was unsuccessful.

Exceptional stay in Hakone This place is truly exceptional. The house is perfectly located on a hillside surrounded by nature — peaceful and incredibly relaxing. My room had a beautiful view of the forest; I felt completely immersed in it. I could hear the birds singing every morning — it was magical. I also had my meals on site, and the food was absolutely delicious. The dining area opens up to the outdoors, offering breathtaking views while you eat. The on-site baths are fantastic — everything is thoughtfully designed, and the outdoor area is a dream. It feels like you're bathing right in the forest. The staff were beyond amazing — we were treated like royalty. I’ll definitely come back. A huge thank you to the whole team! Highly recommended, 200%. Don’t hesitate — go for it!

This is the second time I've stayed in Hakone and I love it.

This is the second time I've stayed in Hakone and I love it. But Hakone isn't that easy to navigate and it's a large area. You have to plan more than one day there to really get anything out of it.

Beautiful mountains.

Beautiful mountains. We mostly explored on foot and by tram and gondola. We did not get the impression we could reserve our parking space at the inn and there were very few, so we did not use the car during out stay. The pancake place by Gora Station was great. Friendly staff and delicious menu items. They were quick to give us a toddler bowl and cutlery for our little one.

Hakone is great but dont expect good weather , we couldnt see Fuji . Like so many other places on the tourist trail there are too many people there . Get off the trail , go to small towns and other islands , see a bit of real Japan rather than a crowd of tourists .

Hakone is a beautiful region with accessible transport with beautiful scenery and beautiful views of amount Fuji. The onsens are very relaxing. Food is great. Hakone Yumoto station area has many interesting shops. Getting here is easy via Romance express, just under 90mins from Shinjuku. The region had became very popular with tourists. Queues are long at cable car, rope ways and cruise boats. Pace yourselves to allow time to unwind as well as enjoy doing the touristy things.

Great place to explore and recharge at the same time.

Great place to explore and recharge at the same time. We spent only two days and would spend a few more days if we knew how great this place is. Plan your day early as everything is quiet after 5pm. The time spent travelling from/to places is considerably longer than any other places we stayed in Japan. We bought the Hakone 2 days free pass and is well worth it. Its a great place for photography enthusiasts :)

It's very good to visit for 3 days, as you will have time and opportunity to visit Fuji Five Lakes, Mount Fuji, and, if needed, easily travel to Osaka and Kyoto using the Shinkansen. The Ropeway, pirate ship, and Hakone shrine are among the best things to experience. Plan in advance and consider taking a free Hakone Bus, unless you plan to return to Tokyo or Odawara Station.

The hotel location is great, within 5 minutes walking distance (with shelter almost throughout the walk way) from the Hakone Yumoto train station. The room is in another building opposite the main hotel, with lift for access to different level. The room is clean and the bed is comfy. Air condition in the room worked well during hot days. I like the onsen spa at the roof top of the main building, especially the open air public bath, with nice forest and river view. Free and nice coffee served via Delonghi coffee machine at main building lobby.

We stayed at Hotel Okada and chose a room with a private onsen, which was a highlight of our stay. The room itself was quite spacious compared to other hotels we visited in Japan, and we appreciated the comfort and privacy it offered. Hakone itself is stunning and we truly enjoyed the area, but based on this experience, we’re not likely to book this hotel again.

It’s my 3rd stay at this hotel. Love the place and we always book the lake view room. Excellent and helpful staff, very near the togendai bus station. Lovely food and clean rooms. Outdoor Onsen is the best! They provided samue and yukata. Despite some things below, we will still continue coming to this hotel. Best one in Hakone Lake Ashi area.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel de Yama. The location was a huge plus for me, as I was interested in visiting the Hakone Shrine and Torii gate before it got too crowded. The service was great, the staff were lovely and friendly, and I loved the view of the garden and lake from my room and the hotel's public onsen.

Incredible ryokan - if you want a traditional Japanese experience in an authentic property book this hotel. You have access to both an outdoor and indoor onsen and the most incredible Japanese food. Hakone is stunning.
