The people in Hakodate are kind and friendly. There is much to see and do especially in the Spring season. Travelling around on the tram was very convenient. We really enjoyed Goryokaku Park, Mt Hakodate and Hakodate Park. Also enjoyed Morning Fish Market, Museum Ship Red brick Warehouese. If you don't go further than the station/port area, it is a massive tourist trap that feels like it was tailor made for cruise ships. When a RC cruise was in, it was horrible. Hakodate was definitely our favorite visited city on our 3-week trip to Japan. The crowds were non-existent and the city was easily walkable or easily navigated by streetcar and bus. Even though it is located next to the train station, the hotel is well soundproof and we can not hear any train at night or in the morning. The hotel staff are very helpful, such as helping us to fill up the form to ship the luggage! The Public Bath has 2 hot and 1 cold bath area with a Suana as well.
