We arrived from the Netherlands, but we both are Hungarians, so we needed to get used with the Italian lifestyle, like the siesta time, when there almost nothing is opened to get some food or drink. In exchange the places like restaurants are opened till late night. Winter is definitely not a good time to visit San Leone as most of it is closed. It looked run-down and in need of a face lift. There was litter everywhere. The roads and pavements are all in urgent need of repair, with serious potholes and uneven surfaces, but this endemic in Sicily. San Leone is a perfect sea side town, with very few tourists. Easy to get to via train and then taxi. It was a short cab ride from Valley of the Temples and had lots of amazing beach bars and restaurants within walking distance of our hotel. In a nice area and very safe and secure and private. Good air conditioning and nice kitchen with coffee machine. Parking space for car and hosts were lovely and was easy to collect and leave keys and answer questions.
