You must see Rome; it is an amazing city.

You must see Rome; it is an amazing city. But Italy is way more than the tourist sites, and to appreciate it you need to get away from the tourists. Rome is expensive and crowded, so find other places to make the most of your time in Italy. Try a few nights in small, nearby towns, and stay in places where the restaurants and bars are more reflective of Italian life. For the same reason we prefer Torino to Milano, I suggest finding other places to go after you have checked all the blocks in Rome.

Rome is city steeped with history and culture, an amazing landscape and beautiful food. Getting around is straight forward and if you stay in the centre, everything is within walking distance. Do a hop on and hop off tour to take in the best of the sites at your leisure, eat pizza, have lots of pasta and try a pistachio croissant coupled with coffee - you can't go wrong!

We stayed 2 days in Rome and that was enough.

We stayed 2 days in Rome and that was enough. We did hop on hop off which is a great way to see highlights. 5 million people in a city is too much for us. We thought going at end of October would be less busy. Not the case. We found all sights like Trevi fountain, Vatican and coliseum very crowded. Resturant Sagarro was fantastic for dinner Finding our place was a challenge after being dropped off as it is a small door not clearly defined. We used Uber yo travel to airport. Rome is an expensive city to visit.

Lots of restaurants and shops, great food, able to walk to most all attractions from our B&B near Trevi Fountain. The crowds at the major attractions, The Coliseum and Vatican were disappointing huge.

Rome has to be on everybody's bucket list with all the history and attractions. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and seeing all those historical places. The beauty of being a sole traveler is that I could change my plans on the spot depending on the situation. The Vatican experience is the best I have had anywhere. Booking in advance is highly recommended! The Colosseo and the Palatino Hill are an absolute must. These two require a full day. I almost always walked to every attraction, the beauty of being a sole traveler. As sole traveler I could always choose to "come back later" Eating was always a pizza off the street cafes otherwise proper restaurants can be very expensive. An afternoon stroll along the Fiume Tevere (River Tiber) was especially soothing. For those planning a trip to Roma and Italy in general, make sure you have allowed for extra expenditure, it will be worth it. I will definitely come back to Roma.

A great city, lots of history and amazing sights.

A great city, lots of history and amazing sights. The Metro was easy to use and getting around was easy, most of the sights were busy, so better visit earlier in the day if possible. I would recommend guided tours for the bigger sights. We felt very safe during our stay. We tended to eat near to Trevi which offered a good variety of options.
