The Jewel of the Amalfi Coast
Positano is a colourful Italian town in the Campania region, near Naples. Overlooking the turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, this seaside paradise is home to traditional terracotta houses on a steep hill and a small marina with fishing boats.

The village of Montepertuso is a place 1000 metres above the sea level, with a stunning rock.Travellers can also take the ferry to Capri and Ischia.

Love Positano, our second time visiting. However, very crowded in September and can be overwhelming. Great place for a few days, especially when planning to explore nearby towns, including Capri. Town is most beautiful seen from the sea or a high terrace. Friendly people. Gets overrun by tourists, even October. Lots of hills and steps, and taxi’s are a flat rate of 35 euros, adds up fast. Better to walk and avoid traffic jams. La Pergola on the beach for pizza, also for spaghetti and clams. Ohima for great vibes and good food. Il Pallazo for special evening. A wonderful stretch of coastline despite the local drivers! Other main hazard the lack of parking places - particularly appreciative of the private parking space at our house. Despite that, accessible to Pompeii, Amalfi, Ravello, Capri etc. all of which we visited in our four night stay. Positano is a total zoo!!!
Positano is a total zoo!!! The alleys are jam-packed with people and lined with shops selling tourist junk. The roads are extremely curvy and hazardous to walk on (shoulders are about 6" wide). The fornillo area is much better than downtown Positano.
The fornillo area is much better than downtown Positano. Its not Chaotic at all. Its more relaxed ,you can walk down to town ,there are 30 odd bars and restaurants between you and the main town and most of them are with a cliff top with a view of the ocean .What I like about this area is that you always feel like a local at this place and the people love your companyGuest review byStuartAustralia

From the time that we arrived there…. They went out of their way with info, gave free shuttle service daily to and from town. The owner himself dropped us off at the bus station with our luggage this morning. We rented a scooter at the property which was very convenient. We drank coffee on the terrace and watched the boats every morning. Positano is all stairs but you're so close to the beach in this property that the stairs feel manageable even after a day in the sun. Maryse is delightful and has great recommendations - we ate at Max on her advice and it was the best meal of the whole two weeks we were in Italy.
