Room was awesome, the breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had in any hotel, fresh pastries, loads of fruit, cold cuts, honey comb, pancakes... if you want to go to the centre by bus, the station is 5 meters from the hotel, the staff were really helpful and professional. The value for money of this hotel is insane and we will come again for sure!

I absolutely loved it. The best hotel to stay in Bologna. • Located in the best part of town. • There couldn’t be a more attentive host; incredibly kind and makes you feel like you have a friend in the city. • The experience is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail. • Impeccably clean. • Airy rooms with minimal furnishings. • Enormous windows overlooking beautiful streets and squares. • The charm of a historic building combined with modern decor. • Comfortable beds and pillows. • High ceilings. • Great coffee and breakfast options. • A practical and beautifully designed bathroom.

FAQs about hotels in Bologna

A Gourmet Delight

World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.

Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.

Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.

The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.

Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

Bologna is a wonderful, vibrant city in the heart of Italy – and especially in the “stomach of Italy.” A culinary dream, no matter which restaurant or trattoria you stumble into. Culturally rich, with plenty to offer, and a true delight for shopping lovers as well. Always worth a short trip! There’s also a lot to discover in the surrounding area – something we’ll explore next time.

At the time of our visit, the Piazza Maggiore was full of tents with protesters, "supporting" Palestine. A strong presence of police also. This ruined the beautiful Renaissance Piazza and did not make for a relaxing stay. On last day of our visit, we were at the train station when a demonstration outside turned violet and demonstrators attacked police, who had to set off teargas. To keep the mob out of the station, the doors had to be locked so we were trapped in the station. Also, there is a lot of construction going on to extend the tramway system, so again, it detracted from what is a beautiful city. I would not recommend a visit to Bologna until these demonstrations are no longer taking place. We did 2 very good guided tours: one of the historic centre and the other of the first university in Bologna. Had some very good food but also some not good. Overall a mixed experience

Truly one of the great food cities of the world.

Truly one of the great food cities of the world. The capital of Emilia Romagna is the home of Mortadella, Balsamic Vinegar, Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma. The city itself is very historic and atmospheric. The many kilometres of porticos are unique. And the food!!! Do not miss the Quadrilatero market area - a myriad of delicious choices of the best food Bologna has to offer. And you can access all of Bologna on foot.

Visited Florence prior to Bologna -- i personally glad i spent more time in Bologna over Florence-- plenty to see / shop and of course eat.... and it was flat for walking access ... the city with it's porticos thru out and plenty of history -- would have spent more time in the museum as it had great large collection of artifacts from 500 bc and 12th century found in the city of Bologna not into shopping but lots of high end and variety of shopping -- liked to wander and there are many different paths to lead one to other sites -- a must is to hike up to the high point to oversee the city views-- san luca madonna sanctuary-- also visit the basement of the city library to view the ancient city when rome occupied the city about 7-8 meters below current city

We really enjoyed our short visit to Bologna - our first time there. It's a fascinating city - lively, vibrant and friendly. There is a wealth of cultural attractions (especially MAMb0 the modern art museum) and plenty of reasonably priced but good places to eat and drink. It does attract quite a lot of tourists but they don't overwhelm the city, unlike Venice and Florence. It feels like a lived-in city but one that welcomes visitors. We will definitely return.

Well located hotel in the heart of Bologna. We were upgraded to a junior suite which was spacious and comfortable. Good air conditioning and shutters made the room cool during some very hot weather. Good breakfast and coffee made to order. Great service from staff. The rooftop bar was good - drinks were a little on the expensive side but they were excellent and the complimentary snacks were the best we got in Italy.

The location was convenient when arriving from Bologna Central station or by monorail from the airport. A short walk from the city centre in a nice quiet area with cafes and a supermarket nearby. The apartment was clean and comfortable. We were welcomed by Jacopo who arrived very promptly to give us the keys. The air conditioning was much appreciated in the hot weather.

This is the perfect hotel. I stayed as I was travelling on business to attend meetings at the University of Bologna. The hotel was conveniently located to my meetings, lots of restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. This is proper Italy - not a modern built hotel which could be located anywhere in the world.
