We were there to meet up with family so we didn't use many...

We were there to meet up with family so we didn't use many of the facilities that Longford has to offer. Limited range of good restaurants but lots of fast food places. Good central base to explore lots of Ireland.

This is a part of the country which I wouldn’t think of...

This is a part of the country which I wouldn’t think of exploring but I’m so glad I did. I was on my way to a wedding in Roscommon and we stayed in Longford which was within a half hour drive. It was lovely to be by the banks of the Shannon and I will certainly visit again. We ate in “The Purple Onion” and as we waited for our taxi to collect us the proprietor treated us to a nightcap on the house.

The photos don’t do it justice. The host was fabulous, friendly and polite - single female I was so at ease. The building was gorgeous, immaculate, large rooms, super breakfast. Will definitely use again if in the area even though I normally opt for hotels this was exceptional hence the 10’s.

Location was fabulous, rural setting very close to main road. The hut itself was perfect, cosy feel but spacious inside and also well kitted out. I also arrived quite late and Craig was very accomodating. I'll certainly be back for my next visit to Longford!
