One of the most magnificent & dramatic landscapes in the world. I loved hiking in the area. The beaches are world class (you need a wetsuit to swim) & on sunny days, the greens of fields and pasture are positively vibrant. I did fine w/o a car - Ireland has a great network of local buses. We drove from Killarney to Dingle and the went on to do the Slea Head Drive; all an easy day. Slea Head drive had many pullovers to park and walk and gorgeous scenery. I found this drive to be much less crowded than the R.O.K. Dingle has lots of local bars and restaurants all within walking distance. We spent one full day in Dingle and then spent the night. Dingle is a very pretty town with a lot of pubs and restaurants although booking restaurants in advance would be advisable as Dingle is a popular tourist centre. There seems to be live Irish music in pubs every night. There are boat trips from the harbour but that is weather dependant and they did not run during the week of our stay owning to very high winds. Dingle is an absolute gem – vibrant, friendly, and effortlessly chilled. From the moment you arrive, there’s a relaxed energy that makes it easy to unwind. Locals are warm and welcoming, and there’s a real sense of community throughout the town. We took a boat trip while visiting, and it was one of the highlights of our stay. The crew was knowledgeable, sharing lots of interesting information about the area, and to top it off, there was live music on board, which added such a special touch to the experience.
