FAQs about hotels in Split

The Sunny Side of Croatia

Stunning Split stands proudly on the eastern shores of the Adriatic Sea, and due to its great climate is called the Mediterranean Flower. It features eclectic architecture, spectacular views and delicious cuisine.

Split is centred around the ancient Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian, a magnificent building constructed at the beginning of the 4th century AD and boasting limestone and marble towers, columns and courtyards. It lies in a bay decorated with white sails of yachts, as sailing is definitely Split’s big thing!

The city is full of architectural gems, one of which is St. Duje’s Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in the world, built in 305 AD and combining both Roman and Catholic influences. Nearby Varoš is a must-see, one of the city’s oldest parts, full of charming streets and beautiful houses.

Make sure you visit the Bačvice Beach and the Riva promenade, popular with locals and full of cafés and palm trees. While on the hunt for local specialities, try soparnik - wood-fired dough filled with vegetables - or local soda drinks Pipi and Orela.

So just pack your bags and head to Split Airport! Booking.com has plenty of sunny apartments, friendly guest houses and well-appointed hotels for your Split adventure.

City has some great historical features and a few nice beaches. Caters well for tourism though was a little too commercial for our personal choice. We found it expensive in the old town. Worth a visit though a week city break would suffice for most areas to be visited

We travelled beginning of October, one day stay over at the start before a boat trip and then again for one day after a week. Weather was cool-ish at night. Many restaurants and shops within the old town, no need to venture far away. Food and wine prices were higher than expected, exceeding that of most cities in Italy, which is the last European country we have visited in the past year. Clothing was not expensive, though. Do a tuktuk ride through the rest of city and have an ice cream at one of the l'Amore shops, which has a great variety of flavors.

It's a pleasant city with a fairly calm population: no one yells in the streets (like in Spain, for example...). Unfortunately, the streets and the city beach are dirty, with lots of trash. There's a new beach with a clean shore, a large area for relaxation/sports, and cafes and restaurants, called Znjanski. You can get there by bus number 8 or by taxi (10-15 minutes). Tickets can also be bought from the driver. Tip: for day trips to neighboring islands, take the boats that leave from the main port. It's very convenient and inexpensive! If you want to visit a restaurant or pizzeria with a beautiful view, come to Pizzeria Skipper - Pizza Split - Pizza With a City View.

We loved Split, the town was extremely interesting and beautiful with lots of great restaurants, bars and quirky shops. We booked a walking tour which is a must I think, very informative and interesting. There were two/three beaches within walking distance. We did a trip to the Krka National Park and followed the waterfall trail, would thoroughly recommend it. We are both in our seventies so can’t comment on water sports etc.

Its a great city for wandering around and soaking up the atmosphere. Visiting the fish market and green market were also interesting and lots of excursions available from Split. Lovely to be able to escape all the people by walking out to the wooded area on the Marjan peninsular.

Arrived in Split on September 2 and stayed until September 21. We rented a car from September 2 through September 12. It was easy driving around through the many cities and into Bosnia and Montenegro. There so much to see, so we touched on some of the National Parks and saw the many waterfalls as we drove up the coast. We stayed at a different location every night. The weather was perfect. On September 13 we boarded a Katrina Line (Majestic) boat and traveled to many of the islands by sea stopping to swim in the most beautiful water I have ever seen. We had tours in several cities to get a better understanding of the history. Overall, this was a great trip to a very lush and beautiful country. They have delicious wine, and the food was very good. I would recommend this as a must-see destination.

A tasteful well appointed property. Location was amazing, minutes walk from the old town. Vlanko met us at property and had reserved a car space right out front for us… this is like gold in Split so made our stay hassle free. Coffee machine was fabulous, we enjoyed this with fresh local croissants before heading off for day to explore. We were able to wash clothes and reset in the middle of our travels in Croatia.

The apartment has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Clean, modern facilities within a traditional Croatian building. The host is contactable and always replied (even suggesting a separate location where we could leave luggage) A short 5 minute walk will take you into the old town, 10 minutes and you’re at the port and 15-20 minutes to Jezinac beach a small beach with clear waters.

We had a wonderful stay at this apartment in Split, Croatia. Before our arrival, the friendly host sent us helpful messages with all the information we needed for our stay. The apartment itself was beautiful, tidy, and spotless, and had everything we could possibly need. The location is perfect — just a 5-minute walk to the Old Town. We truly enjoyed our time here!
