It's a quieter place at the opposite end of the island from Fira and Oia which seem to be crazy busy with Cruise tourists. I would recommend it as a base for exploring the island. Vlyhada is the best beach on the island!
Vlyhada is the best beach on the island! The cliff behind the beach with its specific volcanic relief is just monumental. There are sunbeds at the beginning of the bay but futher you go wilder will be the beach. And yes, there is also the FKK part but it is not fixed and you can do how you feel it. The good restaurant with traditional food and fresh seefood is Fisher man s house. A small Village just at the end of the road creates the lazy atmosphere of a perfect holiday. It is not so well communicated with Fira as the rest of the villages on the island, but the bus can take you to the capital 4 times a day, which is enough. Small village with nice friendly beach (dark sand), which is not crowded at all. If someone wants fancy beaches with good facilities and parties, it is the best to go somewhere else. Rooms are basic but clean and all you really need. Bus routes are limited but the biggest tip I could give-use the bus times and the Santorini train tour. There are plenty of busses from Fira to Perissa beach. There is a hop on hop off train tour that leaves every hour from this location the last leaving at 7pm (check the facebook for times for next season). This train goes right by the hotel and is 6 euro and valid for 4 hours.Guest review byPetaAustralia
