We absolutely loved The Royal Hotel. Its ideal location in Ullapool, right next to the ferry pier, along with its lovely staff, restaurant, and very comfortable rooms, made for a wonderful experience. It is unfortunate that we could not enjoy this beautiful hotel and peaceful town for a bit longer, as we had to continue with our trip. We will be back! :)

We loved everything about our stay — the house, the location, the sheep, and the chickens! The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the atmosphere is peaceful and thoroughly enjoyable. Both hosts go above and beyond to assist their guests in every way possible. Breakfast with the stunning view was an unforgettable experience. The cleanliness of the place is exceptional — everything is new, fresh, and so well cared for that you naturally want to keep it that way. Thank you so much, Julian and John, for having us.     The town had done a lot to make the waterfront a nice place to walk and take in the views. The paving, seating and lighting were well done. We made sure that we booked for dinner because even in October there were many people around.

    The host and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

    The host and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Loved the decor. Breakfast was delicious, you had the option of cooked or continental - or both if you wanted. A quick walk to the town and we were in a stunning coastal village with cafes and shops. Would definately recommend this wee gem.

    Our place was just down around the corner from great...

    Our place was just down around the corner from great restaurants and shops. The ferry is docked there. Fishing boats and guided tour boats. We were lucky enough to have car so we drove out to the lighthouse which was picture perfect. On our way home to our home away from home (CEOL MARA) we stopped by chance at Rhueart Gallery . It was truly wonderful to meet James Hawkins , artist supreme .

    Like much of the north-west, Ullapool has become expensive...

    Like much of the north-west, Ullapool has become expensive following the promotion of the NC500. There has not been a matching increase in quality in some places. Despite the extra visitors and a major recent upgrade to the sea front area there are still empty shops on the front. If this is to remain the premier tourist stop for the north-west it needs someone to give it a bit of a shake. Very sad really, Ullapool is a lovely village and need looking after.

    This was a stop of for us in out NC 500 tour ,but have been to Ullapool before.A lovely little town ,nice little independent shops,good eateries and a good starting point for exploring further afield. We stayed here this time to get the ferry to Stornoway on the isle of Lewis,a pleasant 2-3 hour journey.

    Lovely old building with spacious room and modern bathroom. Breakfast was plentiful and Sara was accommodating by taking our fridge provisions to place in their fridge. Easy walk to all of the restaurants in the area. Had a good meal at The Caledonian Hotel.
