Sidmouth is a lovely sea-side town of a type I had feared no longer existed! We last visited c. 30 years ago and it has not changed except for the better. A lovely seaside town with different and quirky shops, tasty bakeries, and good restaurants. There's a small cinema and theatre. Nice walk a long the seafront. The beach looked clean and looked after. The museum was good and the walk along the river was pleasant. As we live in Sidmouth, the hotel wasn't far from home. The town is unspoilt(so far!) with a nice atmosphere, plenty of choice of shops, (few big names like Crew Company/Fat Face/Edinburgh Woolen Mill) plus lots of cafes and restaurants. The beach is shingle except when tide is out. Thankfully NO amusement arcades! Delightful area near beach for walking (Jacob's Ladder) as well as Connaught Gardens. I always have a lovely stay rooms are very comfortable the breakfast is lovely and the setting is excellent.
