To be fair Storm Amy had began and the amount of road works between Wistow and Drax was an unexpected hindrance. Although Selby Abbey brought back memories of a wedding we attended some years back. Other than the magnificent abbey there are few obvious sites in Selby and it seemed to have few attractive places to eat. It is a pleasant town to walk around and there are good views from the bridge over the River Ouse. I could reach to hang up my clothes and be independent. I was impressed the hotel rang to check my needs beforehand. There would have been room for additional aids had I needed them. Lots of different hand grabs and rails in bathroom. I had plenty of width for 18in seat active wheelchair in doorways. Carpet was closely fitted and did not impede my rolling.
