We were really impressive with this boutique style accommodation. Staff were friendly and the room rate included a very nice cooked breakfast in the restaurant and parking was also included. Heated towel rails, quality bath products and within a short stroll to a selection of restaurants, all in a stunning setting of the old ship victualing yards… just stunning.

FAQs about hotels in Plymouth

Life By the Ocean Wave

From prehistory to the present, the very essence of Plymouth has been inextricably linked to the sea. The Pilgrim Fathers departed from here and named their new Massachusetts settlement after it, and Sir Francis Drake famously finished his game of bowls on The Hoe before combatting the Spanish Armada.

Western Europe’s largest naval base – HMNB Devonport – is in its natural harbour, and in The Barbican fishing boats bob up and down by cobbled streets lined with historic buildings. Jacka Bakery here is the oldest in Britain and there are plenty of galleries, bars and restaurants, though Union Street has the best nightlife.

At one end of the street is the Theatre Royal, and from the other ferries depart to France and Spain, passing the Mount Batten peninsula and offshore rocks that once housed Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse, now in Hoe Park next to the Royal Citadel.

Overlooking the park is the Lord Mayor’s residence, once home to Waldorf and Nancy Astor, and other street and building names are reminders of Plymouth’s illustrious connections.

Other attractions include the National Marine Aquarium, the City Museum and Art Gallery and Grade II-listed Saltram House. All are easily reached from Booking.com’s Plymouth accommodation, including luxury hotels with swimming pools, cheap guest houses and country houses with parking.

We didn't really have time for a thorough viewing of Plymouth as we were visiting a family member at the University & was only there for 2 days. We had a boat trip around the harbour which was good & informative. It had a good shopping centre and the area was clean. We walked to Plymouth Hoe which had good views which was popular with visitors and residents. We were fortunate we had good weather. We were pleasantly surprised with Plymouth as we hadn't visited before.

Excellent views from Plymouth Hoe over The Sound where you can 'while away' an hour or two with a coffee or an ice cream . Plenty of eateries and bars in The Barbican. Plymouth city centre appears to be undergoing a bit of a revival, with lots of new shops and major works going on along Amada Way and Royal Parade. Don't forget to visit The Aquarium and The Box (award winning Museum and Art Gallery), also Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

We are a group of four old Wiganers down for a football weekend . The Hoe and Sutton harbour are both historical and picturesque, personally I found them to be quite inspiring. In those areas there are many hostelries and restaurants to suite all tastes and budgets - the beer was good, the food was good and the welcome and hospitality were first class, especially in the Admiral MacBride and Cutty Sark pubs. We found the locals to be friendly, helpful and chatty in the city centre . At the football stadium and fan zone our club colours seemed irrelevant as we socialised with several home fans before and after the game All in all, we had a great weekend in a friendly and seemingly relaxed city, where we were made to feel very welcome by everyone we met. Thankyou Plymouth !!

I came for a specific reason; to visit Saltram, and to meet up with some old aquaintances, friends of my dear friend who sadly died a year ago. Plymouth is a ''grows on you'' mixture of shabby 60s City Centre, ' breathtaking view from the area around Smeaton's Tower, interesting slightly run-down areas around Union St and the Dock areas, and touristy chic around the Barbic,on . Saltram has become one of my favourite ever National Trust places. It's that mix of big trees, ferns, mosses, tropical plants meet English favourites. Such helpful staff too, I love it. The walks around are unique too; all the bird lifein the woods and estuary. The drama and beauty of Wembury and Wenbury point are must sees as is the ferry to Cawsand in Cornwall from the Barbicon. Two other favourite places nearby; Buckland Abbey, another National Trust property with wonderful wild walks, and the Garden House, one of the best gardens in England. And the moors of course, via the number 1 bus. Another favourite bus journey from Plymouth is the number 3 to Kingsbridge and Dartmouth via Modbury. All three places deserve a visit. Mdbury is under 30 mins away, has great little art shops, a community orchard and peaceful walks along wooded green lanes. On this brief visit I missed seeing the many varied arts scene of Plymouth, including the excellent TRP. Next time!

Lovely old Victorian hotel, would recommend staying here if visiting Plymouth as it is in walking distance of the Historic dockyards, Plymouth Hoe and the City Centre. Parking is limited at the back of the hotel, but we managed to park there. There is a small charge to park, plenty of other parking on the side roads, Get the Ringo app which makes it easier to pay for parking in Plymouth

Lovely little guest house really close to Plymouth Hoe. This is a budget stay but the cleanliness and the quality of the bedding and beds were superior to some much more expensive hotels we've stayed in. They even made beautiful oragami shapes from the towels. Highly recommend.
