Paignton is a great place to be based to explore the local area. Trains, buses and seasonal ferry boats to several local towns. Plus it is nice and flat for long walks along the prom, to the harbour and high street. My grandparents used to live in Paignton, so I have a personal connection to the town. I first stayed there when I was 2 years old. The town is somewhat shabbier than it used to be, and the range of shops in the town centre is more limited. Howeverm I would still recommend it as a good place to stay, especially for young families and pensioners. Nothing to do with the hotel, but if you like a curry, then I thoroughly recommend the Nepalese restaurant - very friendly, the chef coming out to have a chat and make sure the food was OK. My favourite hotel in Paignton! Our room was, as always, perfect. Gorgeous views of Paignton seafront. (I never get bored of that magnificent view!) The staff are always very friendly and polite.
