We bracketed a two-week UK car trip (York, Cumbria, Scotland, the west coast) with days in London. We stayed near Victoria Station (Clermont London Hotel) at the start and near the British Museum (Tavistock Hotel) at the end. We aren't foodies and enjoyed eating a couple of meals at the funky Market Halls Victoria. There are a lot of small shops and restaurants and bakeries nearby. We did did a bus tour to Stonehenge and Bath that was wonderful. Also a day-long tour of London that included a boat ride on the Thames and time at the Tower of London amongst other stops. That was the first day of the underground strike so transportation was disrupted. It ended for us at the London Eye (not sure we would do that again -- midday might have had better light for photos). There were also lots of shops and restaurants around the Tavistock Hotel (in the the university area). Really, you could spend weeks there and still have a lot of things to tick off your list. I understand the police are cracking down on the phone theft thing, but we found sharing earbuds and stowing the phone worked great for discrete directions. People were walking with their phones out everywhere we went.

Lots of interesting places to see.

Lots of interesting places to see. Very bustling and lively (especially Picadilly Circus, Regent Street, Oxford Street). Full of people (sometimes too many). Very expensive (tip: try the 'meal deal' at supermarkets: you get a main, a snack, and a drink for around 3-5 pounds). Tube and bus services are very convenient. Cultural places are very accessible (most Museums are free!). Musicals are amazing but very costly. Overall, as a backpacker, expect to spend 60-80 pounds per day!

The weather was good , london bridge and river cruise trip is always enjoyable and the walk around city specially picaddily circus was great, the coffee, pastries, cakes make london special place to visit , underground rail is cheap and so convenient and saves so much time and money if compared to uber , all major places are covered by the underground rail network, shopping is cheap at big brands ( Gucci, dior, loewe, burberry, etc) in bicester outlet village , 5 days in london is enough , downside is that star hotels are expensive ( a 3 star around 175-250 Pounds depending upon location) and so is the food.

These aparthotels are located about 10 minutes walk from Aldgate East tube station which is well connected to get all over London. They are secure and accessed by key card swipe at all points of access. The room was a good size with a king size very comfortable bed. Bathroom was well equip with an excellent shower. There is a microwave, fridge and kettle in the room making breakfast easier as it is not provided at these apartments. We were able to store our cases prior to check in and after check out which was very helpful.

It's in an incredible location as you're in the centre of London just a few minutes walk from the Natural History Museum. The staff were friendly as we dropped off our backs earlier in the day and then were able to check in quite late at night. The rooms were also fairly decent, with desks and beds that were quite comfortable. I feel like it could use being a bit cheaper, but it is London and better value than most of the hotels around.

Stayed at a few Z hotels in the past and this one is the best. I booked a window option but my advice would be don’t bother, just book the cheaper non window option. The view is of the fire escape. Shower pressure amazing. Huge TV. Very friendly staff. Felt very safe here and would stay again. Z hotel offer a great concept. Small modern soundproof rooms at a very affordable price in prime London locations.
