We liked how cosy and clean the hotel is. We had a fantastic relaxing weekend, breakfast was superb, we even had prosecco with breakfast. We did a 3 hour walk around the area during our stay, lots of great walks close to the hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, with bath and shower, lovely complimentary toiletries, tea, coffee making facilities, and bottled water. We would definitely return to the Mallyon Spout.

I'm travelling by bicycle from Germany, touring all British and Irish isles. So far, 759.6 Km travelled. I arrived with my Brompton and trailer here thanks to a lovely fellow, saving me from a downpour. The owner of the hotel was so kind to store my Brompton and trailer securely for me. This is a very serene place. Lovely interior, very kind staff, and cosy rooms. The food selections seem basic on the start, but they mostly have a very flavoursome twist. As a former chef myself, I wish more premises would dare to take on food classics in the same way. Overall, it was a great experience for me, and if I would not be on a cycle tour, I'd love to extend to stay for a few days! Thank you very much for a great stay and a trip uphill saving me from a great struggle

The Witching Post is nice and close to Whitby but not so close that can't get parking. Nicely removed from the populous. The staff are funny and knowledgeable about the area and tips for making your holiday run smoothly. The room was lovely and warm - late November and a cold snap - it was a joy to relax in. The bathroom and shower was great - nice water pressure and a quirkiness that only the staff will explain with a laugh. We had a tasty dinner and breakfast, both meals were delicious and well presented. We really enjoyed our stay and would like to return when we next visit Europe again.

The beautiful vistas and the quaint village made for a relaxing stay. Our hosts really looked after us. Dinner at The Inn on the Moors, a short walk from Halmer Grange was perfect. Great service and delicious food.

Goathland is a really nice place to be, when all is quiet,...

Goathland is a really nice place to be, when all is quiet, early morning or evening time it is absolutely magical. The Inn on the moor and the Mallyan Spout hotel are lovely places to eat and drink unfortunately I can’t say the same about the Goathland hotel. If you like walking then Goathland is a great place to start.

It's £4 to park there but several places to eat and drink, the Hearbeat locations and the steam trains. Worth a visit even if you are not interested in heartbeat or trains. Sheep graze throughout the village so dogs must be on leads.

This hotel is a real jewel within the North Yorkshire Moors.

This hotel is a real jewel within the North Yorkshire Moors. Located in a quiet but delightful village, it is perfectly situated for exploring the moors or coast, and of course the added bonus of the North Yorkshire Railway, Goathland station just a short walk away from the hotel. Once visited, most will return again and again.

Beautiful quirky scenic village with sheep roaming free. It is worth visiting for the steam trains, the Heartbeat connection and some lovely walks. If you stay it is a great base to explore the Whitby coastline.

Beautiful village very relaxing.

Beautiful village very relaxing. Lots of little cafes and shops. We ate at the Inn on the Moor, the food was excellent with plenty of choice. The North Yorkshire Moor Railway runs through the station at Goathland. The station is lovely and takes you back in time to the days of steam railways. There are many walks around the moors from the village [long and short].

Goathland Post Office Cottage is in the perfect location and I love the 1960s/70s vibes. Everything was spotlessly clean and each room was large. Comfortable beds, and the kitchen had such wonderful history and personality. Reminded me a bit of 1950s, especially with the retro signs and fridge.
