Lovely area, plenty of beautiful beaches to visit and loads of lovely eating spots. Smoo cave was good to see and nice walks around the area. Fuel pumps open 24 hours and reasonably priced. It was a luxurious homely cottage with a great location in the centre of Durness, 15-minute walk from the beach. You can see the sea from the lounge and bedroom window! Durness is an undersold part of the North West.
Durness is an undersold part of the North West. We booked two nights and could have spent a week. There is everything from local sights, day trips, hiking, golf, or just sitting back enjoying the view with a wine or a book. If you are there in Winter, Northern Lights are a distinct possibility. Everything was fantastic. The hosts were extremely helpful. The property was very clean and very comfortable. Highly recommend it for a short or long stay. Comfortable room. There is no parking actually on site but there is a car park rright across from the property. No evening meals are available at the time of our stay but breakfast is available and was plentifull and a good selection. Staff were very polite and helpfull. It had everything we needed, including tea, coffee, milk, porridge and was in a quiet spot, about 10 minutes stroll to Balnakeil Beach ( stunning) and minutes from Loch Croispol and another Loch a bit further away on a beautiful hike.
