The hosts were super friendly and very attentive. Excellent service, they thought of everything. Breakfast was cooked to order and so good! The room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone who wants the personal touch and is looking for a unique location.

Everything, it was just perfect for a relaxing break. The host was so very welcoming and the peace and the views were amazing. We asked to stay another night but it was booked, obviously! Cannot wait to go back.

Our stay at 28 Wood Lane was outstanding from start to finish. The property is beautifully decorated throughout, creating a stylish yet homely atmosphere that made us feel comfortable immediately. Its location is ideal, with all local amenities conveniently close by, which made getting around effortless. The host was exceptional — communication was prompt, clear, and friendly, ensuring everything ran smoothly. It was evident how much care and attention had gone into both the property itself and the guest experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would happily return without hesitation. 28 Wood Lane is a true gem and comes highly recommended. Thank you so much 💓

Ideally suited for an overnight stop and a trip into Pontefract. We ate in the pub although the food we chose wasn't to our liking, other dishes we saw come out looked great. The staff were really friendly.

Darlington is a small village but a good location and easy...

Darlington is a small village but a good location and easy to get too. Very pretty and there are loads of places to visit nearby if you like the outdoors, history, and walking. We have visited Anglers Nature Reserve, Pugneys Country Park. We did want to visit Nostell Priory which is National Trust but high winds put an end to that. We visited Sandal Castle, the site of the Battle of Wakefield, and there is a shopping outlet called Escape with restaurants not far, about 20mins by car. Would recommend taking a packed lunch when visiting the parks to give more time to walk and discover. People very friendly. Stunning views.

An excellent location for travellers on the A1 and easy to find. Very helpful staff. The restaurant was very popular with families, but our menu choices was not as well cooked as I would have liked and the breakfast was poorly cooked, but this is a personal view. The whole place looked tired and Greene King need to take more care of its inns, this is the second time we have stayed in one and the hot water boiler has failed and there has been no hot water.

The breakfast was quite small for a 3 star Hotel compared with one in Austria :-( Little choice for breakfast. Only two species of bread. No Vegetable for breakfast. No Earl Grey tea Only 3 spezies of tea

Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract.

Darrington is a small well to do village near Pontefract. Bus service is minimal. Lots of big houses and well tended lawns. There are two pubs and a small general store. Church and church hall are set back from the road (which is busy) We were having a post breakfast stroll guessing the property prices and a local lady invited us to a coffee morning, which was nice.

The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any...

The hotel was right next to the A1M but had little if any noise from it. It was ideal to break up the journey further north for a funeral & then the return journey. Bed was very comfortable and large, staff were very welcoming and friendly, having a pub attached gave a great choice for evening meals and breakfast. The only criticism was the occasional uneven floor in the room

It was a good place to stop for an overnight stay as we were going to our sons 40th birthday party, which was just a few minutes down the road from the hotel. The room was clean and tidy, as was the toilet. There were coffee and tea making facilities in the room as well as the usual hair dryer and iron. So all positive. The receptionist was pleasant and quickly booked us into our room. As we were eating and drinking at our sons, we couldn't comment on the bar facilities at the hotel as we didn't use it that night.

Check in was marvellous. We were checked in straight away by a lovely man who was very jovial. We paid £65 for B & B which was very good value. It was good that the hotel has a restaurant. We had an evening meal there which was very good. Staff were very pleasant. Room was basic and a little worn here and there but beds were comfortable and room was clean.

The hotel is in a great location. There is really good access to the A1 from there. I also liked that they had a restaurant on site which was easily accessible and a fair price.

The Darrington is very handy for us when travelling down South from Scotland. We've stayed here a few times before, it's previously been great for a stopover for me the night.
