I was upgraded to the Chapel Room so called as it used to serve as such to the previous owners of the property The Sisters of Mercy . What can I say … a one of a kind room . The Cookie Jar possesses that understated surety of class which is self contained but evident throughout the fabric of the building and the professionalism of the staff .

The room was big, the bed was comfortable. I really liked the pub downstairs, they had great meals and drinks. It was fun eating dinner and then just walking upstairs to your room. Breakfast was huge, and the staff were friendly. The price was also really competitive, and the cost to value ratio is really good.

Everything was wonderful. The room had everything we needed, including an iron, ironing board and standing mirror. The breakfast was fantastic. I really like eggs benedict, but usually I hesitate to order it because I only eat well done eggs and other restaurants never seem to make them well done (even if I ask). However, the restaurant at Doxford Hall managed to make the perfect well done eggs benedict and I was so pleased! The spa facilities were great and never felt overcrowded.

ADORABLE! The pictures honestly don't do it justice. We stayed in the cottages and it was just wonderful. Sleepy and quiet, comfortable, great bathrooms and comfy bed. The food was great and the staff super friendly. Very walkable and quiet neighborhood. Pet friendly -- it was adorable to see all the dogs (made us miss ours back home). Great location if you want some seaside fun and visiting Bamburg Castle .

Peaceful, comfortable, clean and private. We loved it here. Sitting on the decking watching the sea and the lambs was fabulous. Only a 10 minute walk to the nearest pub/restaurant, a short walk to the coastal path and friendly hosts nearby. We'll be back.

    Unspoilt quiet fishing village.

Unspoilt quiet fishing village. Excellent base for walking Northumbrian coast or travelling to Holy Island, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Cragside, all of which surpassed our expectations. Jolly Fisherman in Craster and HorseShoe Inn in Rennington offer excellent local; food and ale. Very friendly staff everywhere.

We have been to Craster for day trips but not stayed in the village previously. It is a small fishing port now mostly a tourist destination for coastal walks especially to Dunstanburgh castle (ruins - dramatic views). Most accommodation is within 2 minutes of the sea and many have a sea view which is of a rocky shoreline but super views and very atmospheric. The England coast path passes through the village so there are super walks South to Howick (visit the Hall if you can - home to Earl Grey of tea fame) or North to Dunstanburgh Castle and Newton by the sea (Ship Inn a legend in beer and food locally). There is one pub in the village, the Jolly Fisherman, which is excellent for beer and food; and is opposite the famous Robson's smoke house (for kippers etc). There are also a couple of cafes in the village and occasional buses daily if you want to plan excursions without the car. As a base for visiting all of the Northumberland coast and towns such as Alnwick, this is a lovely spot, and is much quieter than nearby towns such as Seahouses which can be a bit noisy. We have been in the summer when it has been a lot busier but this time we went off season and it was much quieter. If you want lovely coastal views, good walks with food and drink nearby, and a bit of peace and quiet, this might be for you, especially if you visit off peak season.
