Booked the room for my mum and she loved her stay. Location is amazing, staff were so attentive and helpful, lounge area is a lovely place to meet friends and spend time, especially with its festive decoration. My mum loved the leisure facilities, and excellent opening hours...... everything was of a really good quality. Finally, as a visitor, it felt really warm, welcoming and friendly.

The hotel was perfectly located in the heart of Carlisle, making it easy to explore the town centre. There was plenty to see, both in terms of history; castle, cathedral, and ancient Roman structures also the many social attractions.

Quiet city consideringit is a University City. Lots if shopping areas but like many high streets many empty premises. The indoor covered market is virtually non exisitant which is a shame. Parking is reaonable and the Cathedral is well worth visiting.

The older area of the city around the cathedral and castle is the most interesting and easy to explore on foot. The area includes the Tullie museum. The town centre shopping area is a disappointment with only one good coffee place.

I knew nothing of Carlisle prior to my visit and we didn't have long to look round but my main feeling was to wonder why nobody's mentioned how lovely it is. It has some stunning historical buildings to see and the city had a nice vibe. It's also really conveniently located for the Lake District and has rail links directly to it. My husband and I have promised each other a longer trip back.

Pedestrian Plaza under construction - when finished will be an asset. Variety of shops, some in covered markets - weather protection for travellers. Visited Cathedral and Cafe - both worthwhile . Overnight stay on route to Penrith for Family History research - Library staff very helpful.

Great location with parking, not far from the M6 as a stopping off point between England and Scotland, yet also walking distance from Carlisle city centre and castle and pub and restaurant across the road. The hotel also does evening meals, which we took advantage of, and this was very good. Staff are warm and friendly, the breakfast quality is excellent, rooms are clean and comfortable. As I had had a recent knee replacement, the hotel gave us a ground floor room, with a walk in shower. We got a room at a great price!

Everything you expect from an Ibis. Clean, great value, decent facilities, great breakfasts! Room layout the same as all other Ibis hotels I've stayed in. Staff really helpful and friendly and the hotel is in a fantastic location. Carlisle is a really nice quaint town with lots of nice restaurants. The hotel is a 1 min walk from the train station, a 2 min walk from the town centre, and a 10 min walk to Carlisle United's football stadium.

We have been visiting this hotel for many years now having family that live in the area. The surrounding area is stunning and very close to Carlisle centre. Small train station 1 min walk away to take you straight in. Gardens to relax in and 5 mins walk to gorgeous river. Staff are attentive and polite. Good food and a nice relaxing lounge area.
