We had a lovely weekend in North Wales, staying in a newly refurbished room at the Y Gwydyr Hotel in Dolwyddelan. Dollwyddellan is a short drive from Betws-y-Coed. Trains run between Dollwydellan and Betws-y-Coed every few hours. Y Gwyder is a great place to stay. Namthip and her team were really welcoming. We had a lovely room, it had a comfy super king-size bed (in room 4). Super powerful shower in the bathroom. Lovely bar, with fab Guinness (as well as other beers, wines etc). The bar is cozy, and the locals are friendly. Thai food produced by Namthip was fabulous and they had a traditional bar menu as well. Breakfast is not included in the price of stay. However, it can be arranged at an additional cost, we opted for a bacon sandwich, which was nice. They also have tea coffee, cakes etc available. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place / area.

A great house and location for a group or family get together. Spacious warm and very well appointed. With two double en-suite bedrooms and a twin room sharing family bathroom - excellent combination. The décor throughout is traditional and robust. Log burner plus open coal fire! Great ! There is not much in the way of facilities at the village itself but it is an excellent base if you are into hill walking/hiking. There is a reasonable bus service to get around and plenty of places to eat a short drive away. It is also very easy to get to other parts of Snowdonia being at the junction of two main roads.
