Buckfastleigh is the perfect place from which to explore the Devon coast and the Dartmoor National Park. Buckfast Abbey is a delight to visit, there is a steam railway to Tavistock and the butterfly and otter centre near the station is well worth a visit. Great location for exploring the area.
Great location for exploring the area. Buckfast Abbey was amazing, free to park and free entry (well worth a visit). The butterfly farm and otter sanctuary was good, although a little over priced. The Valliant Soldier pub and museum is very good, a pub where time stood still. All in all a lovely place to visit for a few days.Guest review byAnonymous - 8.0

I have friends there. An excellent new wine bar with very friendly and hospitable staff. They went out of their way to accommodate us and find suitable dishes for me to avoid my chilli allergy. Excellent, super friendly staff. Lovely & quite. Great location. Good breakfast. Spotless in all areas. Very comfortable. Would have been nice if the lights in the room were a bit brighter & there was some control over the heating. It was just little on the cold side for us in November. The cottage was delightful, esp the outdoor setting. The literature on the area was very comprehensive and provided lots of ideas - for eating out as well as activities.
