Although not used during our stay there is a swimming pool...

Although not used during our stay there is a swimming pool on site. Also, good walking and a variety of sites above the town to offer that sort of holiday. For an outdoor holiday in all guises, it wd be worth a thorough exploration of the area. For our touring trip we needed a night only and the hotel where we stayed offered everything we needed.... and private parking!

This is a small city, you can get everywhere on foot.

This is a small city, you can get everywhere on foot. Lots of restaurants and shops. Shop keepers and restaurant owners are not the friendliest, but this did not tarnish my enthusiasm. I absolutely recommend le Musée de la Toinette et la Grange de Julien.

La Bourboule was nice in the evening with the restaurant...

La Bourboule was nice in the evening with the restaurant lights on and the snow on the ground. Galapagos restaurant was nice and the food was good. The local bakers had nice cakes and coffee. A pleasant walk in the day and there is a shop that sells very nice chips (fries but bigger and better) and various other things like ribs, nuggets etc.

A lovely easy town, ideal for families. Some of the big old hotels from previous generations are closed forever, some in ruins, and yes Mont-Dore is also good with more restaurant choices but MD is a bit crammed, lots busier.La Bourboule has more space and has easy free parking everywhere. Loved it.... and the tourist info people are excellent Cafe Francais is one of a row of bars/ restaurants and is spot on. Good staff, great value We stayed at Hotel Regina and loved that including its excellent value restaurant Lots of good walking around and to suit various levels.

We arrived after the hotel restaurant had closed. We phoned reception on the way to let them know we would be late. They kept some food warm for us; when we arrived, the owner (?) set a little table for us and served us a delicious 3 course vegetarian meal, chatting good-humouredly all the time. Great customer service! Breakfast was very generous (and delicious). Hotel location is excellent: very close to central La Bourboule.

Close to the main centre where the restaurants and bars are. Private parking at the back of the hotel. Had an excellent meal in the restaurant one evening as the weather was horrendous. Lovely reception area.
