Extra well located and splendid historic house, highly curated by Margherita & Anthony, with a great atmosphere. The team was so nice and so helpful in every occasion. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The staff are so friendly and attentive yet without being obtrusive and one staff member Michel remembered us from years ago and greeted us like old friends which was lovely. It is a very beautiful hotel and the attention to detail is second to none. The cuisine is outstanding and they have an excellent and extensive wine list. Rose petals are left on your pillows at night by the evening service and there are always little treats in store. The concierge is most helpful and can provide any information or service you require, for example airport transfers, chauffeured driven tours with wine tastings and picnics. There is a spa and swimming pool and beautiful grounds.

A stunningly beautiful old town a blended mixture of...

A stunningly beautiful old town a blended mixture of medieval and 17th century buildings of honey-coloured stone and made all the better because cars are banned from the entire old centre. So all you hear are people's voices . Incredible markets on Tuesdays and Saturdays and a vibrant relaxed atmosphere. One of the most engaging and beautiful towns in France I have visited.

Novotel Pont del Arc is ideal accommodation for car based family roaming in Provence, as we have enjoyed for more than three decades. Few locations have maintained the same level of excellent service. Aix is a VERY special place, being the hometown of Cezanne, Zola etc. and ideal base for exploring the whole of Provence, particularly the Cote d'Azur, Marseilles, Grimaud, the Callanque etc etc. :-),

Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city.

Aix-en-Provence is a delightful city. It is the birthplace of the painter, Cézanne and there are museums devoted to or include his art. There is a very beautiful boulevard called Cours Mirabeau which is very wide and has many fountains. On Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a huge market there. We ate at one of the restaurants with outdoor seating. This city is well worth the visit!

Visited for the Cezanne exhibiton at the Musee Granet right...

Visited for the Cezanne exhibiton at the Musee Granet right next door. Lots of pedestriaised areas to walk around, markets to visit and great cafes and restaurants nearby. A short bus ride away is Cezanne's house which and a visit to the gardens is lovely. The Petit-Train Cezanne ride is a good way to get a feel for the place and the included view from Jardin de Peintres is not to be missed.

Our main reason for visiting was to see the Cezanne exhibition, which was fantastic. However, Aix is also a beautiful city, spotlessly clean with dozens of restaurants and bars and a great base to see the surrounding countryside.

We went to Aix for the Cezanne exhibition at the Musee Granet, and we also visited Jas de Bouffon, the Cezanne family home. There is plenty to enjoy and marvel at besides; it is an historic city, full of life (after all, it is a university city). Markets, restaurants, museums and charm are in abundance. And it is a great touring base for Provence...

The hotel was very close to the centre of Aix, so an easy walk. The hotel is located in a narrow old street so driving there was a bit of a challenge. The property is a lovely old house, full of character but with an eclectic twist. Our room was on the first floor which overlooked the garden. There was a great walk in shower. The room was lovely and quiet. The breakfast was very good.
