Lovely medieval old town, very well preserved with few architectural sins. In springtime beautifully flowered, very clean despite the masses of visitors. Extraordinary city hall from the 16th century. Spectacular location on the Neckar river. Lots and lots of pubs and eateries, it is, after all, a student town. Try the restaurant "Forelle". I was there on a working trip at the university so I was only one day a tourist. It is a sweet little town with an AltStadt that escaped bombing in WW2, full of half-timbered buildings and a pleasure to walk around. I speak German so I was able to talk to people, took part in University activities. I was there in January so not much going on outdoors but the indoors university town culture was wonderful. And the town square was more beautiful than expected, and we almost missed it, thinking the bridge area was the main attraction. Old town was very scenic and the authorities have gone to a lot of expense to make the town attractive. The flower displays were everywhere particularly on the Neckar bridge and very impressive. Tübingen is a historical university town near the edge of the Schwäbische Alb (a low range of forested hills). Our room was excellent, a comfortable bed, a separate sitting area and there were refreshments available of needed. The bathroom was very well equipped. The breakfast provided was more than adequate. Travel into Tubingen was very ease, there is a bus stop juts 20 yards or so from the hotel and it only took about 10 minutes to get im. Tubingen is a terrific town, with much to see and do.
