Definitely not a 4-star hotel.
Definitely not a 4-star hotel. First of all, the room lacked basic amenities: no safe for valuables, no closet for clothes, no phone to contact reception, and not even a simple shower cap. A lot of rooms have broken AC and broken lights in the bathroom. Reception people are very slow and helpless. You need to walk from 4th floor to ground floor if any issues as no phone to call reception. They say call on mobile but as foreigner people we must pay for call which is ridiculous because they do not provide service that should be. Do not follow up on what promissed to guests. At checkout, they offered a 20% refund due to all the inconvenience, but we never received it, and no one responded to follow-up messages when we approached them about when we get refund back. Excellent restaurants and bars, well laid out in a modern and stylish design, easy to walk around in a friendly atmosphere, Would recommend a visit, there's plenty to do, everything from shopping to a bit of culture. We were here to visit a friend.
We were here to visit a friend. When he was working we were rather "stuck", for there was construction being done on the train line and leaving the town to go to the Rhine was not a reasonable option. We did a lot of walking the Oberhausen neighborhoods. The city is a place for people to live, not necessarily a touristic destination. We did eat at some delicious restaurants, including Salvatore for Italian and the Hotel Gdanska for Polish. Oberhausen is part of a metropolitan area with lots of theme parks and other stuff to do concentrated in the area. Our accommodation was approximately 15 minutes, in any direction from these theme parks and the Sea Life aquarium. Very kind people working there, but keep in mind that the mention of 24 hour reception is not correct; reception is closed on Saturday evenings and Sundays. There's a sign with a phone number for emergencies. Breakfast is a continental buffet with a choice of eggs. I had a bath tub in my room. Very good bed.
