We stayed at Hotel Velero right off the beach in Playa Hermosa. It was relatively quiet (in the best way!) compared to the neighboring Playa del Coco. The beach was clean, the sand was soft, and the temperature was great. We saw dolphins and great sea birds from breakfast at Hotel Velero. We also had dinner at Roberto's and La Casita del Marisco. Hermosa is about 30 minutes from the Liberia airport. This is a less visited beach so you don't have the crowds of others. However, there is everything you need within walking distance. La Casita del Marisco is our favorite sunset dinner spot in Costa Rica. We have stayed in Hermosa since 2016 (we lived in Monteverde for 5 years) and usually stay at Hotel El Velero on the beach. It is a nice small area to stay. Not too touristy. The beach was incredible. Attended a wedding at Cafe Marisco, ate at Ginger. It was fun, pricey. Wonderful whole red snapper at Roberto's. Meals and drink, atmosphere at our hotel, El Velero were great. I like Playa Hermosa because the beach is beautiful and great to walk along in the morning. The restaurants are plenty with live entertainment on certain nights. Lots of seafood on the menu. You can take a bus to Playa Coco but it is hard to know when exactly the bus is coming as schedule is here-say. Only costs 1.00 USD. I ate at Robertos , El Velero restaurant and Pescados. The beach was hopping. There was a wedding at one of the restaurants, so very lively. We enjoyed the beauty of the beach and it only got better when it got dark.
