Pucon is great, I spend ~6 months there last year. Food is not consistently great but Trawen never disappoints. Try your sopaipilla with queso and merken! Walk a bit out of the center to a frutería and load up on berries and other great produce in the summer. Souvenirs/artesanía are better outside of town (and further south). Pucon is an excellent place to plan a short visit to. Driving off Rte 5 (the main spine road of Chile) we nearly stopped at Villarica but were very pleased that we had pressed on to see what Pucon was like. Both are great towns but we are glad we stayed in Pucon. Such a lovely town with a bustling centre with plenty of restaurants and souvenir shops. A short walk took us to the beautiful, although busy, beach by the lake. On the other side of the peninsula was the marina and the opportunity to hire a yacht. Ever present was the amazing backdrop of the volcano, occasionally giving off a puff of smoke. Pucon's a beautiful city where you can do as much or as little you want, especially if you're young and adventurous. But there are also plenty of nice shops and restaurants if that's more you're thing. And the scenery is gorgeous. The only real downside is that it's an expensive place by Chilean standards. Even by American standards, it's not cheap. It's also about an hour and a half drive from the nearest airport, which only has flights to Santiago and Punta Arenas. There is good transport between there and Pucon, though, so you don't have to rent a car if you don't want to.Guest review byLloydUnited States - 10.0
Pucon is perfect.
Pucon is perfect. It is a very small town, like a village, with lush nature and very friendly locals. If you enjoy peace, relaxation or enjoying nature with trails and sports, this is the ideal place for that. The volcano that makes up the city makes everything even more magical.
