This place is a DREAM! We booked for one night and stayed almost a week. It's the perfect location - near the elephant orphanage but away from the crowds. Surrounded by nature, quiet, beautiful views, fireflies at night, wonderful caretakers who cook delicious local dinners and the chalet which was the epitome of comfort and luxury in a homely setting. We spent every morning at breakfast (which is served at the main hotel just a 5 min walk away) overlooking the elephants taking their morning bath and having delicious food. We were even able to use the hotel pool. The best part of all was Andrew the manager who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and comfortable. He arranged so many things for us - a birthday celebration, a tour to the village and a waterfall, tips where to go and so much more. He is without a doubt the nr 1 host in Sri Lanka and the Peacock village was our nr 1 favorite place we stayed during our trip to Sri Lanka. We will 100% be staying here again.

We got a bright and nice room on the top floor with a long L-shaped balcony, patio, a/c, fan, good wifi, a bottle of cold drinking water, bathrobes, large towels, bath mat and a large and very comfortable bed. The room's furnishings are generous and well thought out. The bathroom is quite large, has well-functioning hot water and plenty of shelves and hooks/holders. Everything is very clean and nice, without any signs of damp. The fantastically good and generous breakfast (with freshly brewed "fine coffee"!) is served in the nice kitchen on the middle floor. There are a total of 6 rooms (2 smaller, of which we stayed in one, and 4 larger) and there are plenty of seating areas etc. under cover outside the rooms. Everything feels very spacious and nice. There is also a private parking in the courtyard. The host couple are very friendly, generous and flexible! There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. We will be happy to come back here! PS: We actively did chose not to visit The Elephant Orphanage… Please read their reviews before a possible visit.

I had a truly wonderful experience, and I’m especially grateful for the amazing service and support from my guide, Andrew. He’s honestly the hero of this place! From the moment I arrived, he made everything smooth and easy — he met me at the railway station, drove me to the hotel, helped with check-in, and explained the program ahead. The next day, he greeted me after breakfast and invited me to watch traditional local wedding dances — such a unique moment! He then took me to the herbal garden, the elephant orphanage, and the zoo, let me try some local street food, and shared so many interesting stories about Sri Lankan culture and traditions. It was my first time visiting Sri Lanka, and I came alone — so having such a kind and knowledgeable guide made all the difference. Thanks to Andrew, my trip was not just safe and easy, but truly bright and joyful. I also really enjoyed my hotel stay — the river view from the room was beautiful, watching elephants from the pool felt surreal, and the whole atmosphere was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Sri Lanka!
