Everything was fantastic, John was exceptionally friendly and gave me great advice as to what places to visit, where to eat, etc. The room and the house in general were special, I loved the way the house was renovated. Breakfast was excellent, everything was homemade. I will sure come again when in the area.

Thistledown Lodge is truly well located on the South-Eastern coast of Ireland in close proximity to the world's oldest operating & functional lighthouse (Hook Lighthouse) which makes it an ideal location to spend a couple of nights or a week exploring surroundings. The 'Passage East' car ferry service from Waterford cuts down on journey time too and makes for a little sight-seeing trip in itself. Having stayed at many 5-star properties around the world in Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, New York - our room at Thistledown Lodge was furnished to exceptional satisfaction and did not disappoint one bit. We'd upgraded to the bigger room with a bath and shower so we had plenty of space even if we stayed in one of the evenings whilst it rained. Being vegetarian guests with special dietary requirements, we were well taken care of by the hosts with wholemeal toasts, fresh orange juice, potato waffles, vegan sausages, vegan black pudding, baked beans and mushrooms. Everything at this property including their breakfast was served at an exceptional standard and you can see the attention to detail with the amenities on offer like branded cutlery, plating methods, quality of food produce etc.
