A fantastic place to stay, in my opinion - my room was large and offered everything needed. It was not the bland usual hotel thing but rather it was nicely decorated for a distinct experience. The location right on the lake is wonderful, with views across the water to the north, and a deck for sitting outside if one wants to, during meals or just for pleasure. Overall, this hotel gives the impression that the owners care and want guests to be comfortable, and it is still small enough to not be the usual bland thing of a large hotel, while offering all one could wish for. Downtown is within walking distance.

Lapland Arctic Cabins is in a fantastic spot, just a 10-minute stroll from the city center. The surroundings are absolutely stunning, with the cabin nestled on the shore of a huge lake that was frozen in December. There’s a restaurant nearby, and they’re finishing up their own restaurant soon. Milla, the host, was super friendly; she even lent our daughter a sleigh:-) Since we got there late, they offered to take us to a restaurant if the nearby one was closed. If we ever go back to Lapland, we’d definitely stay here again!

We loved the location right by the lake, especially with the outdoor fire where you can cook your meals and enjoy breakfast in the morning. Everything was spotless. The host was also very kind, when we asked, he gladly washed the clothes we had from our trekking trip.

If one wants to have an idea over paradise, don't look too far. There it is Mamma Taina is your protecting angel. A few words in Finnish are a good help. 1 hour by bus from Rovaniemi. I was very happy there, peaceful and silent. A real holiday... Yes, in the winter. Arctic clothes are a must, if you want to hike, or walk around.
