Each unit features views of the garden. I recently spent a weekend at Butiama Camp, perfectly located in the heart of the Marine Park. The setting couldn’t be better — peaceful, scenic, and just steps from the sea. The Big Blu Diving Centre offers a wide range of activities for both divers and non-divers, making it ideal for all interests. The food was varied and delicious, and the service throughout was exceptionally attentive.

There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. excellent accommodation in utende village. the staff is super friendly, attentive and helpful. the rooms are beautifully done, breakfast is fresh, delicious and more than enough. the dinner for 12$ is reasonably priced, you get a starter, a main and drinks and it‘s delicious. keep in mind that you‘re staying in the village and not on the beach. they lend you bicycles for the 5 minute ride and the drive is really nice. if i ever return to mafia i‘d stay there again. asante tena:)

The rooms at the accommodation have air conditioning and a desk. I can not put in words how much I loved this place and the amount of gratitude I have for the manager. It’s a beautiful serene place with a beautiful pool area and delicious food as well as great apartments. The people working here are super friendly, beyond kind and helpful. Even during a medical emergency they remained calm and supportive.

Every thing about this hotel was wonderful for us. The staff were delightful, kind, friendly and always helpful. The accommodation was excellent for my daughter and I. We could not have been happier. Any query we had, or the adaptability of our meals were all catered for with such grace.

There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. We had an incredible stay at this lodge, and a big part of that was thanks to the amazing owner. He is truly one of the kindest and most helpful hosts we’ve ever met. When the airline failed to deliver our bags, he personally took charge—calling every day, staying in touch with the airline, and doing everything he could to make sure we got our luggage back. We felt so supported and cared for. He also organized all of our activities, and they were fantastic: turtle hatching, a trip to the mange sandbank with a beach BBQ and snorkeling, a visit to the north of the island, Chole Island snorkling trips and whale shark watching. Everything was smooth, well-planned, and stress-free thanks to him. The lodge isn’t right on the beach, but the owner provides bikes for free, and with them it’s a quick and easy ride to the shore. The rooms are comfortable and air-conditioned! Dinner at the lodge is optional each day, and it’s a full three-course meal (starter, main, dessert) for just $15. The portions are generous and the food was consistently delicious. Overall, the atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed, and safe. We truly felt at home here and highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Chole Mjini Treehouses Lodge offers unique tree house accommodation on Chole Island in the heart of the Mafia Island Marine Park. The property has a dive centre.

The partly open and thatched tree houses are locally crafted and offer magnificent sea views. Each comes with a balcony, seating area and mosquito net. The bathrooms are fitted with a shower. Extras include a safety deposit box, free laundry and morning tea or coffee delivered. An amazing little island with outstanding tree house accommodation. Eco tourism at its finest. Plenty of activities to keep you entertained. Perfect for winding down after doing safari. Definitely worth a visit. The owner has done so much to help the locals which was lovely to see.

The accommodation offers airport transfers, while a bicycle rental service is also available. We traveled to Mafia Island specifically to see the whale sharks. We went out the first day with a highly rated local tour company and did not see any whale sharks which was unusual. The next day we decided to go out with Hassan, the manager at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Hassan was determined and we did in fact see whale sharks!! Hassan took such good care of us. I was so happy to see the whale sharks but I was getting tired after a few swims so I was content to stay in the boat and let my family continue swimming. After resting a bit, Hassan jumped in to see if it was a good view for me. He came back to the boat and let me know it was a great view if I was up to swimming again. I jumped back in and had the very best time! I cannot say enough good things about Hassan and everyone at the Lodge. They are all so kind and helpful. I also highly recommend the massages at Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge. Thank you Hassan and everyone at the Lodge.
