In fact, you can have the camp arrange your game drives in the Masai Mara and your transport from and to Nairobi, all at very competetive rates. The owner, Magdy, will explain everything to you through WhatsApp. All the accomodation and facilities are safe and clean (but opt for the larger and more comfortable rooms!). I did a lot of research before my booking, and I think Greenwood (also recommended in the Lonely Planet guide book, by the way) is among the best choices, if you are on a budget. Go there!

Firstly, it’s a great location right next to Talek gate (a gate that’s pretty much in the middle of everything in the park, making it easy to get to anywhere in Masai Mara). The accommodation itself is right next to a river in a lovely natural setting where animals come by and you can absorb the nature. They also have people working there to escort you at night to make sure that you are safe (thank you Simon!) The space itself is great as well (we got a free upgrade to the tent which was very luxurious thank you <3). They do measures like hot water between certain hours and no electricity at night (1am-5am), which I think is great to reduce the environmental impact of tourism on the area. Food deserves a special mention - it was honestly the best food we had during our entire trip in Kenya, starting from the veggies, soups, the packed lunches/breakfast when you go on game drives. They also organise game drives and we had the best driver Solomon - big thank to him too! The staff are very welcoming and honestly I would look no further JUST BOOK!

The breakfast offers buffet, à la carte or continental options. At the hotel you will find a restaurant serving African, American and Indian cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. We had an amazing stay at Mara Hilltop – truly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had! The view was breathtaking, and the tent was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully set up. Special thanks to Chef Allan for the delicious meals, and to Lucia and Steve who were always so helpful and accommodating throughout our stay. Our game drives were unforgettable with Ken, an excellent driver who made sure we saw the Big 5! In Nairobi, John was also a great driver who took care of us very well. One of the highlights of our trip was the nature walk with Dickson – he was such a knowledgeable and engaging guide, making it an incredible experience. A huge thank you to NJ, a very patient owner who always responded to all my queries, and to Nick, who went above and beyond to ensure our safety and comfort, even checking in with us on our way home. Everything was so wonderful that we ended up extending our stay. We highly recommend Mara Hilltop Camp to anyone visiting the Masai Mara – you will not be disappointed!

The luxury tent has a flat-screen TV. Towels and bed linen are offered in the luxury tent. The property has an outdoor dining area. Super location with tents spaced out between private winding paths on a hill with a view. Dining area with fireplace and washroom. Tents with washroom also. Great dinner was an added bonus. This was super for a group of work colleagues visiting the park.

Ol Kiombo Airport is 12 km from the property. Location is gorgeous with beautiful views into the savanna, with a pond with animals coming to drink. The house is beautifully decorated. The food prepared by the chef was great. Very friendly staff, specially Vincent and Peter.

The hotel also features free WiFi and free private parking. The staff! Faith, she made a special place in our heart. It was our honeymoon and she made everything very special for us, she was so attentive and the best host we had throughout our whole time in Kenya! We would come back SPECIFICALLY because of Faith! Breakfast was great, loads to choose from. The room was very cosy and clean. They do cute touches like put hot water bottles in your bed whilst you're at dinner! There is always someone to walk you up and down the dark path which was a nice addition.
