Everything at the hotel was exceptional: the clean rooms, bathrooms, the delicious breakfast, coffee available all day (for a small fee), the location in the middle of the ancient city. The hotel staff was especially nice. Questions were answered in English (if an English speaker was available) or with the use of a translation app. We could book train reservations and a taxi ride to the Hanging Temple. The directions for using the city bus for the Yungang Grottoes were very good. All in all, I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants a several-day stay.

Amazing location, right in the center of ancient town of Pingyao but still very quiet. The room is very beautiful, clean and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Ji is amazing. The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

There was no push to upsell services, but whenever we needed something, the owner provided a perfect solution at a very fair price. 4. The house is well-maintained, full of character, and has a rich historical charm. 5. After we checked out, we still had several hours before our train, and they kindly offered us a place to rest. I would definitely come back again if I have the chance!
