The machiya is beautiful, full of character, and ever so peaceful. So when a torrential rainstorm rolled in, I was very happy to have an excuse to stay indoors and soak up the beauty and atmosphere here. I had a large tatami room with enclosed balcony and a sitting room, and wish I could just move in! Delicious breakfast that kept me going until dinner time. Everyone is friendly, the staff were very professional and welcoming. They treat you very well, take care of you as if you were a king/queen. So commuting is so easy, also it’s a ten minute walk to the Lake and the concert house. I loved the various extras for ones own usage like Slippers, Pyjamas, toothbrushes combs and towels- so even if you forget something they got you covered.
