You're greeted with a warm tea and smiling faces. The room is beautiful, large and spotlessly clean. Private onsens are reasonably priced and very relaxing. Breakfast was also delicious and the nicest breakfast I had in my 3 week stay in Japan.

Situated just 26 km from Hikone Castle, Ryokan Beniayu features accommodation in Nagahama with access to an open-air bath, free bikes, as well as a lift. Incredible ryokan experience! We loved the tranquil scenery which overlooked Lake Biwa. Breakfast and dinner were exceptional and traditional. We stayed two nights and the meals were never repeated. We loved the in room outdoor onsen overlooking the lake and the massage chair was a nice touch. A very relaxing stay. The staff was very friendly and really tried to speak English to us. We had no communication barriers. Will definitely return and highly recommend this ryokan. Very memorable experience.

The hotel has a free shuttle bus to Otsu station which is very convenient as it is located a little far from railway stations. The room had an air purify which was a pleasant surprise. Stayed for 4 nights, enjoyed it a lot.
